The Shoes Like Pottery name is derived from the vulcanising – or ka-ryu – process used on each and every pair of their shoes. Kiln-firing the rubber outsoles allows the rubber to regain its natural strength and elasticity - resulting in flexible, soft and extremely durable footwear. Each pair of Shoes Like Pottery sneakers is stamped with a bright blue rubber seal that bears the brand’s logo - the “uchide no kozuchi” or mallet of fortune. This magical hammer is believed to ‘tap-out’ the wishes of its wielder. A vibrant blue sole makes for a nice pop of contrast.
